High Idle on 87 2.3.
Hey Ill start this off by saying yes Ive been checking for this solution on this forum and others and have had no luck.
First, I just replaced cap/rotor/plugs/wires, and adjusted the timing on my 87 2.3 fuel injected motor. When I first got the truck the egr and the solenoids for it was disconnected. Now, there is a vacuum box underneath the airbox. Is the solenoid supposed to go to the vacuum box then out to the egr valve? If so, which line on the solenoid (top or bottom) goes to the intake manifold vacuum port?
I did this work on the truck yesterday and got it running pretty good, only problem is it has a high idle. Stays right around 1500rpms. If I give her some gas and rev it up, it will drop down to about 1000 and go back up to 1500 after about 5-8 seconds.
Oh yes one more thing, the egr tube that connects to the exhaust it cut, crimped and welded shut with a plug in the manifold. Will this mess up how the truck runs? I don't really care about it functioning how its supposed to just it running how it should.
Oh, sorry one more thing. The vapor or charcoal canister located drivers side by radiator, all my hoses are broke off except one going back to the fuel tank. Some insight on where the remaining 3 hoses go will be greatly appreciated.
