I took another road trip today, and I have to say, I may end up putting the air muffler back on.

I've not see any improvments. Going on I-90, at 70mph, the enegin really had a loud purrrrrrrrrr sound, I did not like that. I want to enjoy the radio.

my Insterstate MPG still stayed at 24mpg, on my way back home I took the highway going 55-58mph, I got 34mpg.. (same as before with the mod)

I will keep the K&N filter in place.

Yes, they are spendy.. I paid $53 for mine at Fleet Farm.

Yes, you can wash them.. I spent like 10 minutes standing there debating if I should spend the $53 on this filter! LOL Then figured the life of the truck, it should pay itself of.

OK, go to this link and look at the 6th and 7th pictures. Does your filter housing like like that? http://www.therangerstation.com/tech.../ramair2_3.htm

You're right, because there is no difference.

yea i think those guys or right... but if your filter wasnt open to the engine compartment i do think it would help if the air wasnt from the engine bay and your whole intake system was bigger

ok my buddy works for mustang ranch. he let me bring my ranger in just to see if we could find out why i get such good milage. after about a hour we decided we would put it on the dyno to see what the hp and tork was. we did 3 runs withe out the air box mod and pulled 146 hp (average). so thin i did the air box mod and pulled three more runs and got 150 hp (average). then put in my k&n drop in and got 159 hp (average).
so to say the air box mod dose nothing you might be right with a but dyno. but on a real dyno just that one mod gave me, or Free's up 4 hp!
make your own call on this! is it worth it? thats for you to decide but to say it dont work i cant. now thees are all average's of three pulls.

just some food for thought!

What did you get with the air muffler in place with the K&N filter?
