Easy ways to add hp to a 2.5L
Hey, i was wondering what ways you guys added power to your 2.5L 4 cyl rangers. I want to do something to get some more power out of the little engine. Maybe a cold air intake or something?? Thanks.

I dont know about gaining hp, but You can restore lost power over the years by doing maintenance:
Fresh synthetic diff fluid
Fresh synthetic tranny fluid
Fresh synthetic engine oil with a black high flow k&n oil filter
New k&n air filter
New plugs and wires
New fuel filter
Fresh coolant
Fresh power steering fluid
Clean the MAF SENSOR, MAP (IF APPLICABLE)
GET an alignment if needed.
New clutch if worn out.
Throttle cable mod if needed.
Resurface rotors so they don't drag if needed.
What else needs replacing do it.
----------
I don't know why they call any intake cold air intake. If outside air is 95 degrees its a 95 degree air intake.

The "I am on a extremely limited budget, but want to add cheap mods to add HP to my 4 cyl" threads are always amusing.
Adding HP to a 119 HP factory stock engine is going to cost $$$$$.

Oh man that made me laugh. All you can do is maintain it and keep up with oil changes and such about the only thing that will feel like added hp is the zip tie throttle cable mod. That's it unless you want to dump a ton of money on a motor rebuild and a turbo. For that they are they get the job done.

I know a guaranteed way to add 3 horsepower to your ranger. Hook up a trailer and put 3 horses and bam you have added 3 horsepower in any RPM range. And best of all no one can tell you its all in your head cuse its real horsepower.

Re: Easy ways to add hp to a 2.5L
I'm curious cause I hear midget guys on the dirt track are pulling 300 hp out of n.a 2.5 Lima motors.
They also build 15,000$ motors.
Alcohol and exotic metals included

Get forged pistons, shave the heads to bump the compression up, also do a port & polish, bigger injectors and a good pcm tune.
