Default Re: Throttle cable mod

As I am making mods to fit hand controls, I have a bunch of cable clamps. They are a legal REQUIREMENT for such controls. They are brassy cylinder things, with a slot in the side to accept the cable, and normally have a set screw (usually with lock nut) on the end. I am thinking that zip ties, with time, would wear in, spoiling the fix.

A fuzzy memory, I have bunches of these, so have not looked in a while, but I think Radio Shack carries/carried them too.

The crimp cap things, where you clip off the old 'hat' and crimp on a new one are trash. And they are an automatic fail at the inspection.

It's just as easy adjusting the other end in the engine compartment with the adjustable screw.

Remove the engine cover with the three screws. Underneith you will see the throttle cable. The spring tensioner is adjusted with the screw. It's very easy to understand which way to turn. If you have too much slack, then you can try the throttle mode.

Scratch the idea. I tried it and it works, but............
you also change the RPM's. So the throttle cable mod is the better way to do it.

for my truck, it only restored the factory responsiveness, since my cable stretched out over time.

sorry these aren't the best pics but its a small space and Im pretty big. As for the video, I didn't have a spring like he did so maybe thats why I needed 4 ties. Also first time posting pics so hopefully they work and this helps you
