Default New Battery, New Starter but still won't crank 2001 2.3l

I am lost at what to do next..

I replaced both with the hope that I could get it moving but I don't even hear a sound when I turn the key (other than the sound of all the electronics working)

?

First thing to do is stop blindly replacing parts that aren't bad without testing them. You just wasted how much money on a battery and starter?

There are fuses and relays in the underhood power distro box. Fuse #11 is for the starter relay and ignition switch. Relay #49 I believe will be for the starter. It is listed in the manual as "Full Starter Relay", which is an odd name but theres nothing else it could be.

The flow of power goes like this:

Battery --> Power distro box fuse #11 --> Ignition switch (key) ---> Power distro box relay #49 ----> Starter motor's built-in bigass relay ---> Starter motor.

Then there is also the red big ass primary power wire going from the battery clamp to the starter's built-in relay. This is probably not the issue as long as the battery clamps aren't all f'd up.

So check those fuses and relays first and report back what you find.

Thanks for the advise,
I am mechanically inclined but new to cars.

The manual that I have for the truck shows no relay #49 but a starter relay #47, I replaced the relay.
I checked the fuse, still in tact. Could it have gone bad without burning out?

The wires look to be in good shape and the wires going into the starter give off a spark when I short them with a driver.

..but starter still won't crank

The truck is a manual, could the clutch engage not be registering in the electronics?

What are you crossing with a screwdriver, there are several wires.

Well there are more than two wires on the starter... The two big ones?

Ok. I wouldn't do that. Randomly crossing unfused high current wires with other unknown circuits is probably not wise unless you like the smell of smoke.

There should be two large lugs on the starter. If you cross those with a big screwdriver or jumper cables, it should crank the starter. However, I urge you to use extreme caution. You are cranking the starter with you under the truck and in your face. If you are not careful, you can easily kill yourself. I'm not too confident in your ability to do this without getting hurt so far either.

What should my next step be?

When you turn the key to start, does that relay in the power distro box click? Also, it would help if you had a voltmeter or test light to check for power at the starter.
