My 86 ranger has stopped running instantly. The truck will run on starting fluid which tells me there is a fuel problem. I have checked the fuel pumps and found that no power was getting to the pumps. With further investagation found that the fuel pump relay was bad, and replaced it. I did noticed the wires going to the relay got hot and melted some of the plastic on the plug housing that plugs into the fuel pump relay. After replacing the relay, I can now hear my pumps running now. I also checked the fuel safety shut off switch and looks like the wires got hot there also. I even took the fuel filter off and seen gas squirting out when key is on, and checked the filter and no blockage. The only thing I can figure out is the injectors are not firing at all. Can all the injectors be bad or could it be the computer? Is there a fuse that goes to the injectors?
I hope some of you have an idea of what is going on here, because I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out what is wrong with my truck.
Thanks for any suguestions anyone can give.
