Default What is the best to use?

Hi, I hope I am in the right area to post this thread...

As I said in my intro, my dad gave me his 1983 Ranger, of which I plan to do some awesome modifications to. It has a 2.3L l4, and I want (if possible) to get some 300 horsepower out of it. I was wondering how I should go about doing that. We will be taking the engine apart, so what I mean is: What kind of parts (or brands of parts) would best get me the peformance that I would like?

Thanks in advance!

~Jake

Turbo it, go to turborangerforums.com and look aroun it'll give you an idea of what is all needed and how much, it can be done for relatively cheap using parts from the turbo mustangs and thunderbirds

If you are taking the engine apart are you leaving the 2.3 or can you throw a V8 in there?

Thank you for your interest in my project!

What I need to tell you first is that the 2.3L motor in the Ranger is blown. It has a cracked head gasket. I want to keep the 2.3L and rebuild it to put out 300+ Horsepower. Where can I get a build sheet and does anybody have any ideas on how best to modify this motor?

(Clinton)

Yes, I want to keep the 2.3L.

Thanks!

Well, I thought I could get my answeres here. Nobody seems to know what I should do... I thank everyone who gave me some good ideas, but I think I'm gonna try some other forum, or something to get my answeres. I'll still be on this forum from time to time.

If anybody has any idea of what I should do, please by all means post. Unless someone does I will not post on this (my) thread anymore.

I'll take that into consideration! I'll see what I can find a well priced 5.0 v8. Thank you, Terry!
