Thumbs down 2.3L oil pressure gauge issue

Just bought this 02 ranger, love the truck, dont love all the problems it has been giving me already. Might have not got the best deal but anyways, I start her up in the morning sometimes the oil pressure is reading low not all the way low on the gauge but very close. Drive down the road and it will jump up to normal pressure, throughout the rest of the day seems to be fine. Could this be a bad oil pump or sensor, fuse or what I am new to ranger and dont know much about them at all. Thanks for your time.

If you are getting a reading then you are good some makes allthough I am not all too familiar with Rangers this is normal. I do however know that my guage pops to the mid area darn near instantly like it is mechanically spring loaded. It is possible that there is something interfearing with the sending units ability to register less then heavy pressure.

This might sound silly, but if you do an oil change before you try anything else, switch to a different brand of oil filter.

I wouldn't change to thicker oil. I had this same issue with my last truck & all it took to fix it was to replace the oil pressure sending unit.
