Default getting the most outta my 2.3l

So I have an 88 2.3 that im gunna build for our mini truck (we are gunna short course race it!). We are very limited to what we can do to the motor, well basically nothing. the internals of the motor need to be stock, we cannot alter the head, cam, ignition,have to use stock crank, we even have to run the stock intake but we can put a K&N on it. the only open thing is the exhaust.

Im gunna run an electric fan, change the pulleys to billet, grind a little on the crank and rebalance it, basically try to take as much load off the engine as we can. Any of the gurus on here have any tips or tricks for gettin any more ponies outta the engine? thanks for the help in advance guys!

look up the mustang mini stock. Those guys basically have the same restrictions as you do from the sounds of it. Don't know much more....i'm a turbo 2.3 guy, lul.

Maybe you can port and polish the head and intake runner. You just want to clean up the raised sections from the casting process and not much more. You want turbulence to get a good fuel mixture, just eliminate the restrictions. Also cut the intake and exhaust gaskets so they don't stick out into the air stream. I'm guessing that kind of work would be allowed in what you are looking to do.
