Question Strange sounds...

Hi all,

I feel so lucky that I've found this forum. There are Ranger forums belonging to my country but there are no exact solutions for the problems in those forums.
Now I've two questions about sounds coming from the vehicle.

1- In position -D- when I accelerate a bit fast for 2 seconds and suddenly leave the throttle, a sound comes from the vehicle just like a tyre slips on asphalt surface when you brake hard. It's like fu fu fu fu. (I know it sounds funny It's something that happens only in D position and in the 1st gear. I wonder if it's normal or is there something wrong with the shaft or transmission?
Here I asked the service and they said it's because of a problematical part placed under the transmission. It's a general problem they said, and nothing to worry about. But I feel it's not that simple.

2- When I stop the vehicle there is still a sound coming from the engine. Before, I read that turbo turbines are still turning even if you stop the engine. But I also read that if you wait 1 minutes before stopping the engine, turbines get slower and stop turning as soon as you stop the engine. Even if I wait for 1 minute, the sound keeps coming for more than 10 seconds. So, is it normal ?

Sorry to bother you but I'll feel better if I can find true answers.
Thanx

I'm a bit confused here on the description of what you are asking.

Also, do you have a turbo diesel? If so, we have next to no experience with them since we don't have diesels in the U.S.

Concerning the engine still running after shut off, what they might be describing to you there is that the turbo will keep spinning after the engine shuts off since it is a free moving part driven by exhaust gases.

There is a forum that discusses turbo Rangers but I don't remember the exact name of it. You might get some answers there or at least better one.

EDIT: I just did a quick internet search. Here is the Turbo Ranger Forum.

Hi,
I have a turbo diesel. Here in Turkey we use the world's most expensive gas. 1 liter=2,70 USD.
So it's a necessity )
The first problem is very difficult to explain. The sounds can not be defined with writing
Anyway, thanks for the website you recommended...

I thought about uploading a video but the sound comes from a bit deep. That's why I don't think you'll be able to hear it in the video. But I'll try. I think about a word that describes the sound best, but i can't find the right word. It's like a rubber sound. When I leave the throttle the sound slows as the compression increases... ooh forget it. I'll try a video and if nothing happens I'll wait for the time when I got my transmission in my hands.
It has a guarantee for 3 years.
Thank you all.

thnx. Forum is really great. I feel soo lucky. The only problem is that the ranger model in my country is different than the US version. Here most users own the US version. But anyway, it's good to be here.
