Default Heating problem with 2009 Ranger Sport

I have a 2009 Ranger Sport with the 4 cly engine. In the winter, cold air blows on my legs from all around the stearing column even when the engine is at operating temp and hot air is blowing on my feet. My Ford dealer says they can't find any problem(don't think they looked too hard). Has anyone had a similar issue?

Has anyone else driven the truck and feels like there is "cold air" coming out of the steering columm?

Have you driven any other 2009 to see if "cold air" comes out of their steering column as yours?

Look around the firewall under the dash to see if there are any opening to the outside that came unplugged.

No, haven't driven any other rangers to see if they have the cold air from the steering column issue also. I was hoping I would hear from other ranger owners to see if they are experiencing the same problem or not. My wife has driven my truck and she also feels the cold air(it is quite noticable, after a few minutes your feet are hot and your knees are freezing).

Thanks!

Been using the heater in my 2010 for a couple weeks now, no cold air from column that I noticed. Have made a few long interstate drives in the cold and no problem like you describe.

I have no issues on my Ranger, we have had -20˚ to -25˚ temps and I was warm.

It's -9˚ now.

Have to admit, the OP is right. Went running errands this morning(27 degrees/interstate) and the cold air is coming in pretty good from the tilt stalk hole on my left knee. Seems like if I put my fingers around the hole, it would stop. Might try a 2x2in square piece of black foam and pop a tiny hole in it for the stalk and push it in there for a seal. Looks like there is nothing else close around the stalk.

I have a similar issue and wonder if it could have been caused by Ford when they rebuilt the undercarriage. (my son folded the left front wheel under on a curb.) Ford wants $550 to replace the $130 actuator.
Is there a way to manually bypass the blend actuator to provide heat until spring? Or I can afford the repair, whichever comes first?

There is no such thing as a 2009 Ranger Sport with a 4 banger.

You can replace the blend door actuator yourself. You need a very low profile socket wrench, but it is pretty straight forward and simple. Three bolts, unplug, replace. If you don't want to buy a new one, get from a junk yard for a few bucks.

There is no way to manually move the blend door without the actuator.
