Noisy serpentine belt on '93 2.3L, need input.
The serpentine belt on my ranger has been noisy ever since I bought the truck, and I tried that belt dressing spray but it didn't help any. Is replacing the belt the next step or is there another way to stop the noise?
Thanks, Chris.

Replace the belt. And maybe the idler pulley. Always check the idler when you replace the belt or any accessories. I've seen bad idlers wipe out alternators and water pumps.

Ok, thanks! It might even be the original belt, so it should be a good idea to replace them anyways.

Or not.
If you're getting squealing (this is an assumption) it's either that the belt has stretched beyond use or your tensioner is shot.
Either way, if the belt is old replace it.
A properly installed serp belt with the correct tension will not need any sort of dressing.
If you install a new belt and it's still loose outside of spec, your tensioner most likely needs to be replaced as well.
