Question cutting out at low RPM

On a 2003 XLT single cab Ranger 4-banger 5-speed:
the post should read CUTTING OUT WHEN ACCELERATING
It happened all of a sudden. If you give it more than half throttle it cuts out with an erratic type of miss but if you let off it smooth's right back out.
Just so long you take of easy no problems at all but as soon as you give it more that half throttle it starts cutting out again. It feels like an electronic type of miss.
It idles and cruies's very well but the minute you give it gas it cuts out again. The truck has been driven very easy all it's life and has just about 80K on it now.
I did notice that the check engine flashed but I did not get the count. It now just says on now but will not flash a code anymore.
How do I get it to flash the code out again? That may give us a start
Thanks in advance

Hope I haven't stumped the Ranger Panel here. Any help would sure be apreciated.
If you need any more info to help me out please ask. I hate to take this truck into the dealer to get it fixed and get robbed.

Sound like You have a miss, however it is impossible to tell without knowing which code it is tripping. The flashing check engine light is not flashing a code number like on older cars, it is just telling you there is a problem. you need a code reader to get it out. Some auto parts stores will read your code for free (Auto zone). Or pick up a code reader and put it in your toolbox

the "flashing CEL" indicates multiple misfires.......you do not want to drive with a flashing CEL. you can ruin the cat..........you need a code reader to read the codes they start at $30 or you can go to a parts store and they will read them........get the actual code numbers and post them here..............without anymore info I would suspect a fuel issue..I would change the fuel filter and see if you can do a fuel pressure test......if you end up needing a fuel pump the consensus among us DIYers's is removing the bed is the easiest way.....

Turned out I just fixed it myself. Turned out to be the coil pack as I kinda expected. Just guessing the way it was running I pulled the pack and noticed it was cracked on the bottom side. I talked to the service manager here in our small town and seem this is a common problem on the four banger Rangers. Thanks for the help from everyone though.
I love this little truck. we have 80K on it and that was the first thing that has ever going wrong with it since new.
