Default fuel pump issue?

So here's my issue: I'm having trouble starting my engine but once I turn the key a few times, in order to build up a little static fuel pressure, it'll start. At least that's my theory for right now. Once started the engine will not idle and will stall unless I hold the gas pedal down a little bit. It was reccomended I check my static pressure with a gauge on the shraeder valve or to mickey mouse checking the static pressure by opening up the shraeder valve with something like some needle nosed plyers. I decided to mickey mouse it since I'm too cheap to buy a gauge that I'll only use once. When I opened up the valve the first time, I got a tiny spurt of gas. turned the keys again and got another small spurt. turned the keys a third time thinking I might have done something wrong and got a spurt about an inch high. Now, that doesn't seem like enough. isn't static pressure supposed to be like 35 PSI? This seemed more like 3-5 PSI... I had changed the fuel filter before attempting this, but I don't think it would have made a difference. Am I on the right track here or way off?

Also, plugs and plug wires have been changed, throttle body has been cleaned, air filter is clean, mass air flow sensor is clean... and I have no idea where the idle air control valve is on this engine.

More than that. I think the pressure is supposed to be between 55-75. Mine reads 65.

65 PSI. I'm inclined to agree it sounds like its quite low. But I would base your pressure reading on what a gauge says, not how much sprays in your face.

Just so ya'll know, the problem with the truck was fixed by changing the fuel pump.
