thanks very nice write up here, I found it during a google search.......Now my question. I have a 1995 ranger 4 cyl 2.3L, I did have the fuel pump replaced about 3 months ago, and in the last 2 weeks it has started stalling on me, feeling like it's running out of fuel. My uncle hooked up a fuel injector pressure gauge, with a turn of the key the needle moved up to about 5, when we started the truck it topped out at about 20 then the pressure dropped slowly and it stalled again. Is this the fuel pump? I did see above for the 2.3L in my year of truck should be 30-40 psi. If I am in the wrong place please move this post to the proper thread, Thanks in advanced.

I would check your pressure regulator. As you have a '95 Ranger, you should be able to access it without removing anything else--I'd check the electrical connections for corrosion, and also compare the pressure at the pump to the pressure on the side of the regulator where fuel should be going to the fuel rail. If you aren't getting any kind of pressure past the regulator, that is what is probably bad (and a lot cheaper than replacing the fuel pump, lol).
