Please Help.. 95 2.3L Sooo Slow..
Hi.. Im new here so please bare with me.. I dont know much about engines yet but i'm learning.. I have fallen in love with rangers.. Recently we bought a used 95 2.3L ranger.. It didnt run when we got it. We have since changed the timing belt, replaced the crank shaft pulley (key slot was worn) and readjusted the fuel pressure.. Seemed to run great after that. We took it out on the road and it couldnt get out of its own way.. It ran smooth, shifted well, and sounded fine but with the pedal to the floor it topped out at about 43 mph and took a good 3 mins just to get that fast.. Not sure where to start. I hooked it up to a hand held code reader and there are no codes and all sensors are ok.. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.. Thanks

try using the zip tie mod to tighten your throttle cable, if that doesn't work then have someone look at it.

Re: Please Help.. 95 2.3L Sooo Slow..
kinda sounds like the timing is off, coils could be bad, plug wires could be shot, then agreeing with others clogged fuel filter, dirty injectors, busted vacuum hoses....
Don't get me wrong the 2.3 isn't the greatest in stock form, but it should run better than 43 mph.
Mine does what I need it to and I don't ask any more of her.

Re: Please Help.. 95 2.3L Sooo Slow..
Its a manual transmission, 2.3L twin-plug head engine with 171,000 miles.
It doesn't rev up, it just doesnt go..
I'll go threw and check the things mentioned after work today. I bought a new fuel filter, air filter, plug wires, and injector cleaner. I'll check the exhaust as well..
Thanks to everyone for their advice. I really appreciate it..
