Default MPG on a 98?

i am seeing poor mileage in my ranger. maybe 14 in town. and i dont drive it hard. what are most people seeing? is that normal? any suggestions?

My 94 2.3 gets 21.5 in town

We need a lil history. May need a tune up, fuel filter, muffler always help fuel mileage, seafoam the intake and (if fuel injected) pull and clean the throttle body. a day of TLC.

just got 16 in city. i did plugs a year ago. guess ill buy some seafaom and that engine restore, air filter and clean the TB. it has a muffler. take it off or replace it?

I read an ad several years ago that if the muffler is replaced every 70K miles it helps to maintain fuel mileage. I do it on all our vehicles...seems to work.
