......can agree with that! In 12 years working for Ford I have never run into this issue!!! The only one thing I can think of is that the ECM is monitoring its misfire data and picking up that cylinder two has more counts than the rest of the cylinders and therefore throwing the 3002 code.......I still would love to hear a compression reading across all 4 cylinders before I target the vacuum

The compression test came
back 180 on idle and 210 under load on all four cylinders.

Earlier in my posts, I also listed everything else I have replaced as well on mine.

Well a chief mechanic performed it where we did each cylinder at a time where I assume the baseline was 180 and then when we revved it continuously is where the 210 came from. He said that was good since even numbers are what you want.

Things came up and I was unable to get to my guy this weekend. However, on a hunch I picked up a new pcv valve. Found the original installed and did the jiggle test. It sounded good but that is meaningless. Installed the new valve and took it for a run. Found much improved idle and no more stall. My issues have been intermittent so I will drive it to work this week and see what happens. Could a worn out pcv valve cause a rough idle and low speed miss? Sure it could. Only time will tell if I lucked out with a $4 repair. I will check in later this week.

Just viewing this thread, I apologize if it has already been addressed but maybe your not getting a good connection for a spark. Leaking VC gaskets did that in my old Passat.
Oil and/or non-conductive foreign objects on the plug?

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, the plugs are relatively new, but we have checked them several times and the plugs appear to be fine. We checked for gasket leaks and there aren't any.

I have a 87 ranger that was having similar problems wouldnt ilde right and would want to die at random times. Ended up being the fuel pressure regulator. Not sure if the newer ones have one. But worth a shot to test if they do.

Angry Re: 2.5l major issues please somebody help me :(

PCV valve did nothing for my issue. Still wants to die when the throttle is snapped closed. I have a new IAC and will give the throttle body a good cleaning, just have to pick up a bottle brush. I even have Motorcraft TB cleaner. More latter

If that's the IACV you're referring to, I've already installed a new one and it has done absolutely nothing for me, as well as cleaning out the TB and even using the same top-end cleaner the dealers use. No change what so ever :/

Unhappy Re: 2.5l major issues please somebody help me :(

Hello everyone. Finally thanks to my friend, we have uncovered the unresolved issue to our troubles. Apparently, the follower on cylinder 2 on the intake is collapsed, the spring is bowed, and the valve itself has hollowed out the hole it sits in, which is causing the valve to literally shake and vibrate instead of moving up and down. So it's going to need the head rebuilt...are there any performance heads for our 2.5's? I'm still contemplating selling the truck too idk I'm at a stalemate right now.

Very good! How did he determine this? I have some doubt that the rest of us have the same defect because our problem only happens at idle. I also do not have any codes. There is a guy on another thread with the same symptoms that replaced his head without solving the problem. I truly hope that your problem has been found, but I will keep searching. I should have bought a Toyota.
