Parts Is Parts......Right?
I made a little trip to the salvage yard this weekend and was in a hurry so I had to run through it. I wanted to replace the engine oil dipstick on my '94 2.3. It seems ok, but the T-Handle is gone and it has an ugly bolt welded on it! What goes through the mind of some people......Anyway the one I grabbed looked right, but is apparently a little short. It won't read any oil at all. There are numbers on both. This is really weird and trivial, but which one is the right one? Can someone measure their's and tell me or read the numbers off of it?
Also, what years do the 5spd gear shift exchange? Thanks,Scott

Re: Parts Is Parts......Right?
Do you still have the old one? I think the part number is right on the dip stick right next to the hash marks for the level.

Yes, I still have both. I'm still using the old one. Not sure which one to trust. Where can I look up parts? Thanks,Scott

Re: Parts Is Parts......Right?
A little ford part number trick...
The first letter in the part number designates the decade and the second digit is the year.
C=1960's
D=1970's
E=1980's
f=1990's
So you have the original part that is a 1993 part and the replacement that is a 1995. The 1995 can't be correct because it wasn't used until after your truck was built, so the 1993 is probably the right one.
