Default Exhaust manifold getting extremely hot on idle

Well seems i am finally able to get the ranger start on command....i have to floor the accelerator but she'll fire right up most times (trying to figure that out) but concerned about my exhaust manifold. While idling i can feel the heat radiating off the manifold. Any idea or suggestions would be much appreciated , im kinda thinkin bad cat but not 100% on it....Thanx.

unless you can visibly see the pipe turning red hot and glowing, dont worry about it.

What is the idle like? Do you seem to have no power at idle? Flooring the accelerator use to be a trick if you were running rich with a carb. Hot idle could be unburnt fuel dumping into the manifold but you would throw a code then so I am also confused.

Idles rough. Engine power is sluggish. Flooring it is the only was she'll turn over without flooding her out..yup ur exactly right. Same symptoms as a the carb deal but fuel inject.

Guess it has been so long she had been started regularly ....no longer need to star with pedal to floor. She still idles a lil rough tho maybe a lil driving will smooth her out.

Thx for the input guys really appreciate it

Have you tried replacing or cleaning the IAC? I replaced mine a week or so ago, and the difference is huge! It took a day or so of driving for it to recognize the new mix, but it idles sooooo much smoother now. Try cleaning the throttle body as well. Both of those helped my idle out a lot.

Thanx KyBucks....yeah i've clean the IAC seriously thinking about switching it out tho...cleaned throttle body (pics below). I think allow the PCM to relarn the mixture is about dead on....gonna drive her and see if she smooths out...Thanks again

Not sure about the B12 stuff. I don't think you should drop a whole can of seafoam into the gas tank though. When I seafoamed my truck, I did 1/3 fuel, 1/3 oil, and 1/3 into a vacuum line going into the intake.

I did see improvements. It really cleans a lot of bad junk out of your system. Just make sure you change your oil about 100 miles after you throw the seafoam in. I timed it right about the time I needed an oil change anyway.
