I would not want to take off any weight on my truck when winter comes.. I'll need that weight for the rear end!

Re: More MPG!!
I have used royal purple a few times and switched back to amsoil this time. More power with rp but didn't last long black as tar and burnt after 3000. Amsoil lasts much longer. I did the air box mod, put in a k n, used rp oil and mpg got worse. I'm gonna start back tracking til my mpg gets back to where it was.

I've been pretty frustrated with my mpgs too. Mine's an auto 2.3 dura, regular cab with an extang tonneau too, and my range has been like 19-26, but my average tank is like 23.1. I'm hoping that summer time gas will show some consistently better numbers!

Re: More MPG!!
Still figuring mine out. First fill up was 19 mpg, second was 22. I've done some fluid changes since I first swapped the engine, so that may have helped...

Re: More MPG!!
I've been getting around 20 with a 2.3 Lima and 5 speed in a regular cab with an aluminum topper. Though I just cleaned out the bed of all the dirt and gravel that was in it when I bought it and probably trimmed around 100lbs right there. I'm about 1k from an oil change and I'm debating going with mobil 1 or motorcraft synth blend. I think i'll probobly get a little better increase with the mobil 1. Opinions?
I also might have an opportunity to swap out the aluminum cap for a fiberglass one for the cost of putting some plexiglass into the fiber one to replace the broken windows. What kind of weight savings would I be seeing there?

I think that about covers it. I plan on switching to synthetic motor oil at my next oil change. Will see if that improves it any.
Then going to install a K&N drop in air filter & see if that helps any.
After that I'm open to suggestions.

Good good tips, I'll have to try some.
Two things though;
1) I have an auto, so shifting at 2000K it not too easy.
2) Putting in the N, would that be bad for my auto tranny?

nope, just make sure your foot is completely off the gas when you put it back in drive or you'll get that lovely SLAM....

Oh okay awesome, I've done it a few times, but once in a while, when I put it from N to D, it takes a second, or 3, to be like "Oh, hello, I'm in drive" Haha.
