[QUOTE=Mayguy;13717]You must do highway driving?QUOTE]

Id say I drive 75% highway on average maybe less??

But since we were going to the mother inlaws today ( she lives 120 miles away) I thought this would be a good chance to see just how good it could do on a trip/highway driving.

So to break down the driving on this tank of gas. I filled up during my lunch hour Friday, drove a little over a mile back to work. Then when my day was over I drove it 12 miles home. Then this morning we had to take the dog to the vet for an allergy shot before heading to the inlaws. I think it is about 20 miles or so to the vet & then 20 or so miles back home. Dropped the dog off & hit the road. Had to stop by Mc Donalds for my 1.00 sausage mcmuffin & my dollar diet coke. Then we didnt stop again until the stop light on hiway 30 in Tama IA. Then stopped in Cedar Rapids, IA at the inlaws. Spent the day there then drove home. Let the dogs outside & headed back to where I filled up origonally & at the same pump.

This shows the tripometer.

This shows the amount of gas it took to fill it.

Then we drove over to B-Bops for a burger & remembered I needed a pic of the tank being full so the tripometer shows .5 miles on it due to that.

I dont have cruise but I tried to keep it at 55mph.

This is a new record for Snowball.. little over 36mpg!!

Im siked!!

Thumbs up Save gaz .........

HI SnowBall !

Thanks for your report and photos

Do you have your tonneau cover on the truck when you make that test ?

What do you change on the pickup ?

Poroboly you write or read about this ...Tonneau not tonneau ...tail gate up ....tail gate down.... no tail gate ....

What save gaz ... i leave in Québec Canada , gaz is pretty expensive here !

Thanks again !

Tires aired up to 40lbs

Use non ethenol blended gas 87 octane

Tonneau cover on

Drive 55mph

Coast up to stops & off ramps in neutral

Go very easy on the go pedal

Shift at 2000 rpm

I think that about covers it. I plan on switching to synthetic motor oil at my next oil change. Will see if that improves it any.

Then going to install a K&N drop in air filter & see if that helps any.

After that I'm open to suggestions.

I put 400lbs of sand back there in my 95 F-150

I haven't drove this one in snow yet. But guessing I will put 200lbs of sand bags in the box. To hold them in place take two 6ft 2x4s & lay them on their side. One next to each wheel well. Then cut 2 lengths of 2x4 to go from side to side thus boxing in the sand bags.

Wow 36! What cover are you using? I believe I could get my mpg atleast 32 for my commute with a little more help from a cover and intake to start. I had a 05 gmc sierra 4.3 v6 5spd with 295s on 20s and a soft cover and got 22mpg. So I know for sure I could get around 32.
