Free timing is headroom in the tune that you can advance out safetly without knock. OEMs put enough headroom so that when they make a shit engine, it won't knock. The better the engine build capability the more likely that engine A, B, C, D and E are "the same".

The worse the capability the more likely engine A, B, C, D and E are different. Worse capability = more headroom.

hahahaha, LMFAO!!! that was great man!! funny ass video

too bad they dont make tuners for my engine, been there done that!! and no way am i going to buy another computer and have it reprogrammed. the only thing i would do is a 50-75 shot or boost, if not boost then 5.0, there's no replacement for displacement!!
im just going to call it a ram-air intake now, because thats what its doing

Mine is similar.
I get 25 mpg by the highway and 16 mpg by heavy traffic city/downtown.
Big difference. I can say it is due to overdrive (5th gear).
If I change from Gasoline to Nat.Gas I can get up to 14 Km/l = 32.9300417 mpg
My tank similar but I have another one for the gas (25 cubic meters).

Just got 19.6 mpg outta my latest tank, 276 miles (I fill up when the needle is touching the E line, which is almost 14 gallons exactly).

I've never seen a vehicle that was so young with a 4 cyl engine that had so little miles get such piss poor economy. Thank god I live close to work and most other places I go. If not I'd practically have a second car payment!

I'm assuming you've got the M5OD. I'm starting to wish I had gone that route in stead of defaulting with the suckamatic -_-. I'm due for an oil change so maybe that'll free some MPGs up. I was getting 23.1 per tank for a while, but we had an unusually long and cold winter winter where I live so I rarely had the A/C on and I was kinda babying the truck back then too.

Yeah, I got the 5 speed. And the worst I had was 16mpg last winter when we were sub-zero for many days.

ya, that why i posted it, cause it looked like BS and i was seeing if anyone has used them, there's alot of bullshit scams out there for increasing MPG's. looks like i'll stick with the MSD wires i planed on getting in the first place!

I drive an 03 2wd xlt reg cab 2.3l manual. I wanted to raise the mpg so I knew I would have to trick either the MAS or the ECU/O2 sensor. I ended up cutting a 3/4" hole in one of closed the factory intake ports. (On mine there are two closed ports on the intake tube near the throttle body). I suppose they are for other components or add-ons. Anyway, I used one of them to add a small warm air intake. I put a filter in it and I swear I'm at least 20% better on MPG. It must have tricked the MAS successfully and maybe even the upstream O2 sensor. The truck is noticeably underpowered, but not that bad. I have adjusted my driving style to accomodate the power loss and desired fuel savings. In other words I drive slower and I'm ok with it. I'll get some pictures up soon. I used to use right about 1/4 tank to go to work and back, now I'm using around 1/6. I'm going to have to do an actual mpg study on it to see where I am, but really, it's made a big difference.

You'll overheat and kill the motor that way. And eventually throw a check engine light for a lean condition.
