Boost is not what makes it "blow up"

There is a triad of things to look at when forcing air into your cylinders

How much timing can I run?
How much fuel can I run?
How much boost can I run?

Increasing boost means more compressor flow, but only to a point.

Many, many, many times people bring their car to me and say 'tune me to XXX PSI man"

This makes no sense because with the right tune you have safe headroom before detonation by taking into account all 3 of the main variables.

If you are talking about excess cylinder pressure breaking internal parts compressor flow means much more than boost levels. Any engine with a correct tune will last 100X longer even with higher than it should have cylinder pressure. Knock is what will break things first.
