Default Multiple misfire on two cylinders

My 1994 2.3L Ranger is not firing on cylinders 1 and 4 on the rear coil pack and has a rough idle w/check engine light. Pulled the code as multiple misfire (OBD 1). I replaced the coil pack but it had no affect. I verified no spark on 1 and 4 by simply using a timing light and checking all 8 plug wires on both packs. I also pulled the plug wires off the coil with no arc on said cylinders. I next replaced the crank position sensor with no change. I want to know where I should be looking to solve this issue.. ignition control module, EEC or is it called the ECU? Thank you for any help. I am the original owner of the truck with almost 190,000 and this is the first time Iíve ever had to do any major work on it. Itís a great truck!

It's mounted in the firewall, drivers side outboard of the steering column.

Most easily accessed by unbolting the plastic inner fender and going at
it through the wheel well.

part # Will be on the top of the ECU

there is a sticker with all the info of it

Depending what engine and transmission and if u have 2wd or 4wd here is a list of numbers

The number and letters after the type of transmission u have is what u need to match up

Location of the ECU in a 1994 Ranger (A.K.A) EEC. It can be found in the firewall opening you see in the picture, next to the large plug (that plugs into the ECU).. sitting by the opening. I will post this up with other pictures for others to refer to when I'm done. Thanks STL for the help. It was tricky getting out as you have to take out the the plastic in the wheel well to get to the bottom nut for the bracket that holds it in the firewall.

I had a heck of a time finding any info on the web with regards to this info so I'm going to document it here.

I had the same problem that I just fixed. My 94 ranger was misfiring and the CEL was on. replaced the ignition module and both coils and everything is running fine again. Also you might wanna check your DPFE and the two hoses that come off it. sometimes they get melted from the headers

I am cracking coil packs on 2004 2.3L. Could that also be the Ignition Module as well?
