NO. Check what you've got for tires on it. Then look up the speed rating online. You may be over doing it even going 90.
My 4.0L/5spd man. cuts out at 90 too. I could adjust that and the rev limit with my Superchips programmer,..and I have T rated summer tires. I won't find out but it hits 90 easy and in 5th is nowhere near 6,000rpm. I've wondered what it could do..probably hit an aerodynamic wall though but it may be able to come close to the tires limit (118). But in sane legal driving on the road here anyways, you shouldn't ever be reaching 90 even. The rev limiter is good engine protection for a manual equipped vehicle.
All this out the window for racing..legal racing hopefully on a track. But there if you want to go fast the better aerodynamics of a car lets stock small 4 cylinder cars hit 130 with ease on a road racing circuit.

Lots of tire info here. Scroll down to Speed Ratings. L-75MPH, M-81MPH, N-87MPH,etc. Tough looking mudders are not meant to be used at Talledega Speedway. At the bottom of this page there are more links for even more good info. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=35

As a fellow 2.3 Lima driver, I gotta ask how are you getting to 90+ in the first place? Maybe on a runway or something but I'm not even sure my truck could do that. Not sure I'd be comfortable trying lol.

it gets to 90 and feels like it could do more but the limiter kicks in. On the interstate is the only times I have gone that fast, but the truck feels solid and stable.

And since i am being quoted. Yes i have gone that fast on the interstate and around here the interstate are mainly pretty flat and straight as can be. In terms of wanting to do it i have never felt unsteady or floating in my ranger at those speeds. I have done faster in mustangs and such on closed roads or run ways when allowed and i have had a few that made me feel nervous but my little ranger handles fine at those speeds.

Well several programmers like the Superchips Flaspaq can raise your speed limiter,Rev limit and adjust your speedo for non stock tire diameters..possibly also allowing for different gearing. Ask a retailer about the last one.
