Hi guys, so I took some photos of stuff in my engine and I'm wondering if you could help identify things for me.

the first photo is of a hose that is on the passenger side of the engine, it's not attatched to the engine and it has a tear in it as you can see...Problems? what's it's function? my guess is it's something to do with heating?

Second image is of the wires on the drivers side of the engine, there are a couple that aren't connected anywhere, are they important? are they identifiable?

Thirs photo is actually of my driver side rear drum. as y ou can see it's leaking and I plan on replacing the cylinder, should I replace the shoes as well? then bleed the brakes? Also, is that black cable on top the ebrake cable?

thanks for helping out guys, I want to get this truck going proper as soon as possible.

would help to know what year and engine u had also smaller picture could help also

1st seems like someone old project then never completed

3rd is the ebrake and yes if cylinder is leaking replace the shoes also

ok here's a smaller wider photo of the engine, that hose goes from under the air filter (I think) to the motor.

the truck is a 86 2.3L

1-the flex-tube is a preheat tube. It provides hot air from the exhaust manifold to the airbox until a certain temp is reached and a vacuum controlled valve closes it off. Smog device to help engine reach operating temp sooner.
2-probably different connectors for accessories/components/engine controls that don't apply to your model and trim level.
3-if the one side is that bad, IMO I would completely service both sides and flush the system.

appreciate the info! tons of help.

now, I have a brake question for ya....when I try to unscrew the brake line from the wheel cylinder it twists the brake line...is the tighten screw on the end supposed to rotate free of the brake line? Because it's not. I sprayed it with WD-40 but no dice.

Yes it should, but with the amount of corrosion you have you need a penetrating spray like Break Free. WD40 is only intended to remove moisture. Even that may not help. You may even find the line itself is so corroded internally you'll have to replace it. I had a Bronco II that I bought that looked kind of like yours. While doing the wheel cylinders I found the fluid coming out of the line was like syrup. Its a good selling point for flushing/changing the brake fluid once a year.
