super slow 4 banger
I have owned alot of rangers but all of them have been 4.0 v-6. I bought a 2002 manual 4 cylinder i knew it would be slower than the v-6 rangers but this thing is crazy slow . Is there any thing I can do to help it's preformance with out spending a lot of money?

108 Octane Booster, get it at any autoparts store. Works great with 4 cyls and decreases hesitation...

I just read a How-To on cleaning the MAF. Have you tried that? Might be holding back your acceleration. The guys that tried it said that they noticed an improvement right away.

Really? I have heard that the new 2.3 four is not to shabby in the performance dept. Better than the 3.0 V6.

Re: super slow 4 banger
my 2005 can haul ass...seriously. Relatively NO modifications. I mean its not going to win any land speed records but if you can shift it right you can make it go. I actually beat a V6 mustang off the light and for about a 1/4 mile until i had to turn lol i use it to respond to fire calls and it DEFINATELY gets the job done

Re: super slow 4 banger
lol, you "prey". truer words have not been spoken!
But yeah, you have an '02, so if it's super sluggish, either it's an automatic or you need a tune up BAD. My '05 5-spd has been known to spank v6-stangs and 4.0 Rangers(not all 4.0 Rangers, but a couple). And that was with no more than a cat-back, modded air box and a tune.

Semi kidding haha, I tried it once when a friend of mine put me up to it. didn't work well in my 3.0 but he swears by it in his 2.3L...so maybe the 4cyl can help? if you use it with cheap gas it takes some pinging away
