I drove an older Ranger 4 cylinder......top end speeds were good.
If I remember correctly, each cylinder had 2 spark plugs, total of 8. Not sure how many you have or how many miles is on your truck. Do you have drum brakes on the rear? Check those for proper adjustment. Replace your fuel filter and spark plugs first. Do the octane booster recommendation. Use some fuel injector cleaner at some point. Make sure no vacuum leaks are present, this can drain horse power. These are the cheap fixes you can do.
