Default Water pump or fan clutch problem?????

I'm hearing a clunking noise coming from the front of the motor around the water pump. I had a mechanic friend listen and he could not tell if it was the water pump going bad or the fan clutch giving out. No overheating. The fan operates. No leaks.

I pulled the fan and there was some give in the shaft when I pulled on it. Should I replace the water pump?

I decided to replace the water pump. I'm gonna go wake up the 16-year-old and get some help.
