From what little I remember, you have to drive it long enough to get the computer to throw up the code and store it again. It's been a long time since I dealt with it though, so I could be wrong...?

I have this problem now on my 98 xlt ext cab 3.0.. The check engine light will not come on at start up. I removed the instrument cluster yesterday and light was good as well as path on circuit board to the connector. I ask for help so keep an eye my post as well and maybe we both get some ideas or solve our problem.
