How about earlier models? I'm looking at purchasing a four cylinder, but don't want to hassle with a timing belt.

the 2001 2.5/ and down are timing belt. the 2001 and up 2.3 duratek is a chain..

Timing belts are good for 100,000 miles, I can't see how that is a hassle. Those Lima 2.3/2.5 4 bangers are bulletproof.
