Still checking some other things but some new ideas might help. I have 96 with the 2.3 and it started to act up a week ago.It starts right up and idles ok for a couple mins than the idle drops down like it is going to die and starts running rough if I speed it up it will idle fine again for a couple mins. Tonite when I tryed to drive it acted like it was struggling to get gas.Had throllte body off and cleaned and the idle vavle cleaned. New wires and plugs fuel filter. Dont know if EGR has anything do with it but has plate to block it off.

I had that problem too, couldnt pull out of intersections, almost dying out and getting creamed by other cars. Turned out, it was wires, plugs and a bad coil pack

I have put new wires and plugs. I thought that was why there 2 sets so if one went bad the other one would pick it up?

Update.

I have replace the IAC 2 times the Maf and put on new Accell coil packs.I took off the upper intake and cleaned it replace gasket and checked vacum lines. The cat is still on but it is empty and I got the EGR working. Truck starts right up and runs a few mins then the idle cuts down and runs rough. I can give it gas and it will smooth out for a few more mins.Also when the idle cuts down seems to have a slight miss. Looking at fuel reg or pump.
