Default 2.5 liter egr

2001 ranger 2x4 2.5l. 5 speed. 90,000 miles.
put in new air filter, e3 spark plugs. new spark plug wires. fuel filter. gas cap.
code p0401 came up. replaced egr valve and gasket.(autozone items.)
cleared code, came up again. replaced egr tube, air sensor, air sensor valve.(ford motor company parts.)
cleared code, came up again. just replaced hoses coming off egr tube.
i found a gray vacuum line on left side of engine disconnected. does have vacuum to it. can feel it when covered up with finger. for the life of me, cannot find where this tube goes. does anyone know where this gray line goes. could this be part or all of my problem? ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS?
HELP!!

Maybe this is what u need

This particular vacuum elbow will throw codes p0401,po171 and po174

It is a simple fix with only a 7mm socket wrench to fix it. First off take off you trottle body cover

Check engine light codes:
p0401- Insufficient EGR flow
po171- Lean bank 1
po174- Lean bank 2

Ford part # F8UZ-6762-AA - $15.00

Then disconnect your battery for about 5 minutes to clear your codes. reconnect and let idle for at least 5 minutes
