Default Ranger runs rough

Hi, My Ranger had check Engine light came on last year and then went away for about 6 months and came back on . Ford pulled code and said Throttle Body Sensor going out. They wanted $500.00 dollars to Replace TB/Parts and Labor. So I bought TB MYSELF, 2002 RANGERS YOU HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE TB and not just the Sensor. I replaced it for $200.00 dollars cost of parts. The truck starts up fine and runs good until I get below 2,500 rpms on the freeway or use WOT in the city. it starts missing and backfiring through exhaust. I get on the freeway and can not use 5th gear OD. The truck starts missing and hesatates until I get above 3,000 rpm's in 4th gear. Should I cange the Spark plugs? Truck has 115,00 miles on it. Thats mostly freeway miles. Can someone here help me trouble shoot it? Do not have a Code Scanner and do not want to go to ford they cost way too much Money. Please help
