Default 1989 2.3L Seafoam?

I have a 1989 and Im pretty sure they guy i just bought it off never changed the oil, instead he just added more to the crankcase when it was low.. Reason being the oil is very black. VERYYY BLACK.

So my question is, should i use seafoam on this old engine? It has 175k miles on it... I dont want to blow a headgasket or anything.

If you do recommend do you recommend all three places? The gas tank, brake booster, and crankcase? Thanks.

ALso what oil is best for these old trucks with high miles?

You should be ok using sea foam. Where and how to use it is all over the place here. I think the general gist is 1/3 sucked into the intake via a vaccum line, 1/3 in the tank, and 1/3 right before an oil change.

As far as the oil, use what is recommened. You could go with a high mileage oil if you wish. If you don't have an owner's manual, you can get a pdf off the Ford web site. Under "support" and "glovebox".
