Default 1998 2.5l will not start

Started my Ranger this morning and drove about 1/2 mile then it died.
I have power, radio lights, etc.
I pulled over and popped the hood.
Checked the fuel rail pressure and it seems to have pressure.
Checked all connections, plug wires.
Have not pulled a plug yet to test for spark.
Plugs are not that old.
This seems to have happened all at once. I had no previous warnings.
Truck ran great up until now.
Any Ideas????

does the motor turn over? can you hear the fuel pump prime?

motor turns over great but will not start.
Have just replaced the fuel pump.
Still will not start.
Code P0340 popped up when I ran OBDII scan.
Checked the wiring to the cranckshaft sensor. Looks okay
Pulled the sensor...looks okay, still magnetized. about 356 ohms, then drops when steel comes near it.
Could the PCM be bad?

Any thoughts?

1998 XLT Ranger, extended cab 5 speed manual trans.
