Default 2.3L bucks at 2500 to 3000RPM when heater or lights are on

my 96 ranger 2.3l bucks/cuts out momentarily between 2500 and 3000 RPM with an electrical load. can't run heater fan or headlights, runs fine otherwise, last gas mileage was 21+MPG on long trip with a heavy load in the daytime. Any Thoughts on this?
