And "older engines are not designed for synthetics". As long as you use the proper weight oil, even an older engine that has lived it's life with conventional oil, can benefit greatly from synthetics. Saying that you can't switch to synthetics on an older engine, is like saying you can't start eating healthy at 50, if you've lived on cheese burgers up to that point.
Your misconceptions are based mainly on the fear of change and resulting beliefs that many older mechanics had about synthetics when they first started coming on the market. These are simply not true.
I have no misconceptions, but I do have a nice bank account from fools who have.
