Default Brake conversion From 9" to 10" front and rear

Tried to put all new brakes on 98 Ranger xl 2.5l rwd no abs and 9" drums and rotors. Having a very hard time finding 9" anything. especially if i want quality. So considering conversion to 10" since it seems more available. No idea where to start. Read an old 11 year old thread here. Does that mean i should convert to rear disc also? Checked axle prices and the are way high. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Default Re: Brake conversion From 9" to 10" front and rear

1: look better. parts availability on 9" drums is PLENTIFUL.

2: to convert from 9" drums to 10" would require 10" 7.5 or 8.8 28 spline drum backing plates plus all associated 10" stuff like drums, wheel cylinders, shoes, hardware kit, etc. The parking brake carries directly over.

3: bumping the front brake size up to 11" or whatever it is on newer coil 2wd models would require a steering spindle from one of those trucks and all associated stuff minus calipers: rotors. That's it.
