I have an 08 with a 2.3, I was wondering if I could swap my ECU with that of a 2.3 mustang ECU and possibly gain a little. Any idea if it'd be worth it or if it would even work?

If you are considering an ecoboost 2.3, that is not the same engine as used in the 2.3 Ranger. I doubt there is much in common.
OTOH, you could find a late model pony with the ecoboost and swap the whole thing, including all the wires, trans, etc. Not easy, but I don't think I have seen it done before.
