Default Anyone know what this is?

This is intake side of my 93 2.3L
I have no idea what the circled part is and of course paid absolutely no attention while tearing it apart, anyone know?
Thanks!

It is the oil separator. The air flowing through the crankcase may pick up some oil mist or droplets which could be carried by the PCV system flow to the intake. The separator makes the flow go through a labyrinth that helps make the oil fall out of the air and condense on essentially metal curlicues or shavings. The gathered liquid flows back to the crankcase. The air flows on out towards the front of the vehicle, goes through the PCV valve, and up to the underside of the upper intake.
The 'can' may be pulled from the side of the block and rinsed/cleaned with solvent of some sort if it is plugged with gunk.
