Sometimes when I drive, my check engine light pops on, everything seems to be running fine, all fluids are good. and after driving a few minutes to will go off. It does it randomly sometimes going slow some times while on the freeway. I tried to go to Auto Zone to get a diag ran on the thing, but the light wont stay on, and if I turn my truck off, the light wont come back on when I start it back up.

Does anyone have any idea what would cause this? Maybe some sensor or something?

tps maybe? try disconecting negitive batt cable for ten min

Probably caused by a misfire, where one cylinder fails to fire momentarily. Do you notice anything like that when it happens?
Could also be a signal error from something like the tps.

What year is your Ranger? I have a Chilton's manual 1991-1999 and can give you some information if it is one of those years.

exact same things happens on mine, runs perfect but the light comes on. its just the O2 sensor throwing a code. its nothing really to worry about. you can replace the O2 sensor but i wouldn't really bother unless the light comes on and stays on.

Rangerhippie. I completely disagree with you. As a matter of fact any one that is on these foruns with over 100 posts and does not have a Codereader is doing themselves a disservice. The CEL comes on because something is wrong, it could be a running rich code and that could ruin your cat. You cCan catch a pending code also. My codekey codereader was $20 at Costcos. For the record lean and rich codes do not indicate a bad o2 sensor
