Default Name of piece on shifter and more

Hello Gents

My 2002 Ford Ranger 4 cylinder 2 wh dr 257,000 miles is in need of a part with no name (sorta like a horse with no name? ) lol anyway I have 5 speed and the shifter is very sloppy. I replaced the plastic parts that the shifter sits in. At end of shifter is a piece maybe 4 " long and has metal ball that fits into tranny. After replacing the plastic parts the shifter is still sloppy. I want to replace the end piece I mentioned. I saw it on line once, and now that I need it I can't find it. Anyone know piece I'm talking about and name? Would appreciate any help..
An "update" with the thread I started about the heater valve. When weather warmed up and I was able to take apart, there was a hairline split in the plastic piece where at ends the hoses connect. Would only show when engine got hot and plastic expanded. What a pain in the butt that was. Anyway any help with this part name or if someone has had same problem and knows of something else causing sloppiness?

Thamks

Hopefully it will work

Yea the link worked day of posting but gave me issues doing so too.. Lets try this pic.

You're talking about the shifter ball joint that the shifter handle itself bolts to and sits in the transmission receiver.. Correct?

It may be called the shifter stud, just replacing the plastic half balls won't fix the slack. There are shims and wafer washers that need to be put in that will apply pressure and take the slop out.

Hello guys yes that is part.. end on mine is metal ball it's not plastic. I replaced the washers n stuff that came with "rebuild kit"

Can only think "piece with ball" is reason for sloppiness......But i've been wrong before.
Geez I forgot name of part you said it was..If I search rock auto with name you mentioned I can find part?

Don't remember how,but when I was looking for "rebuild kit" that piece also came up on page. Now that I need it it's MIA

I will search with name you mentioned

Thanks for help I will let you know if I find it

Make sure you got the right year. There is a difference in some year shifters, the M50D-R1 has a shift "shaft" that clamps on with a both that runs north/sount (i.e. points towards the front-rear of the truck)

The M5OD-R1 HD has a shifter shaft that attaches to the shifter base via a clamping bolt that runs East/west (points towards the doors)

I don't believe they share the same shifter bushing and because of that, may cause slop.

I do have a set for the R1-HD so you're welcome to the bushings I have. I Don't need them.

The component you need to repair is whats known as the "shifter stub", as referenced to this link
M5R1 Shifter Stub Repair Kit

Do not purchase this kit as this will not work with your newer HD trans. I have the components on the top, the two plastic pieces that the ball sits inside as well as the spring washer. What you seek looks like this

You may also just need a spacer for the bottom shifter seat, this would bring up the seat and reduce/eliminate any slop you might have in your setup. I'm willing to bet that this is what you need to do, unless you have purchased the wrong kit for a different year trans and it is just not the right size.

M5R1/R2 Shifter Spacer

Regardless, if you want the pieces I have, you are welcome to them. Leftovers from when I rebuilt my transmission.

Hey guys

I took shifter apart, i do have what turis molover posted It is a M50D-R1 HD
I didn't see the washer thats shown in your pic..From what I remember I had gotten 2 half plastic cups and a seal. It was marked as for my tranny but I don't remember now.

If you have those parts you want to get rid of i'll leave you my email

Text me and we can work something out.

Again APPRECIATE you guys taking time on this..Hopefully one day I can do the same

Default Name of piece on shifter and more

Hello There, Feel free to delete or move this if needed.
I am hoping to apply in the upcoming few weeks and I want to use this account. I do not want to make a new account, I also have had my first name legally changed.

My first name currently on here is Lane. But I have changed it to Connor.

Would it be possible for someone to help me change it?

Sorry if this is a problem or in the wrong place?
