99 Ranger, 2.5L manual. A periodic problem that's becoming more and more consistent; when I'm coming to a stop light and go into neutral my acceleration will suddenly rev up until I throw it into 1st or 2nd. Less noticeable is when I can feel the engine pushing a little after I let off the accelerator (I just drove into a parking lot by getting into first gear and letting the ghost in my engine work the accelerator). I did a quick clean of the throttle body two nights ago to no effect.
Really more annoying than anything but could be a symptom of a greater problem. Any suggestions??

Remove and clean the iac valve. Then reset the ecu by disconnecting both battery cables and jumping them together for 5-10 minutes. This will force an idle relearn.

Throttle Position Sensor?
