Default 2003 Ford Ranger Fuel Pump Connector Diagram

Just wanted to post this for anyone needing this information.

I went to start my car and it missfired then sputtered out then wouldn't start again but was cranking hard. Had to get a tow. It sounded like it wasn't getting fuel from my experience but my current fuel pump had only 8,000 miles on it so that didn't make sense. Hooked up the fuel pressure gauge and sure enough, no pressure. So I pull the bed off in order to check the pump and it turns out the connector on the vehicle side was burned up partially and corroded also. The hot lead was basically disentigrated for the most part. There are no replacement connectors available at auto parts stores so I had to put all spade connectors on all the wires then tape it up real good.

Here's the connector diagram in case anyone ever needs it:

You can purchase that connector through MOUSER.com if you so choose to replace it. Otherwise I would rewire it with a more common Deustch Connector.

Ford has a PDF of 'pigtails' they sell, sorted by the number of connectors. It's on the web.

If you want to cheat as well, the later year O2 sensor pigtails are the same.

Or if you'd rather, de-pin your current connector and just rebuild it, so long as the plastic isn't destroyed.

Yeah. Here's the Motocraft Ford connector PDF.

It looks like WPT-807 is the right connector for the Ford Ranger 2.3L just by visual. There is another connector that looks identical to it also. Both are listed in the PDF index as "Sensor Catalyst Monitor" which is an O2 sensor I believe.

I found one here at this site going for $15.80 (plus shipping I guess)

Just as well to buy the whole pigtail rather than rebuild the old one. By the time I figure out the right kind of terminal (by name) and the right sizes and have them shipped I could have the pigtail in hand.

I don't plan on pulling the bed off to replace the spade connectors I put on unless I start having a problem with that connection. But who know what'll happen down the road. Often times I post details of my Ranger issues here on The Ford Ranger Forum as a reference for the future. If I do need that connector down the road all I gotta do is pull up my old posts here for the info I need.

That's a good strategy to have.
