Default 97 4cyl dies frequently

I recently purchased a 97 4cyl. Manual. Previous owner said she didn’t run it much in the last 7 years and only 40k in the last 10. I changed the fluids, coolant, oil, etc. oil, air and fuel filter...but now when I start it it seems to have trouble idling. I took off the IAC and cleaned it and it ran better for a short time, but it’s back to doing what it did before. It won’t stay running until I’ve had my foot on the gas for about 5 mins, and runs great for about 30mins. After that I’ll push in the clutch at a stop and it will die out. It starts right back up, but I can’t get it to stop. Any ideas??

Check the M.A.F. Mass air flow sensor.. I would either clean it with the recommended cleaner that is availible at ant parts house or replace it. This where i would start.

I think I would check the temperature sensors or sender. The IAC should bump the cold idle above 1k rpms, and step it down as the engine warms. If you have that occurring, then it should be ok. It indicates the IAC and sensor are working together. You could also check the ACT - air temp sensor plugged into the manifold. It reports if the air is cold... and helps adjust the mixture for a cold engine. One last thought would be to check fuel pressure as a truck that sits can get funny things in the tank that could lead to a plugged pickup sock, limiting delivery flow and/or pressure.
