Default Low boost on your 2.3

I have a 97 ranger, I see turbo kits on ebay, I know there not high quality, but I'm starting with that as a kit and then upgrading each peice as needed.

I shouldnt have a problem running 4 lbs before i get it tuned right?
How do you tune these ecus?

I don't want to run high boost at all.. maybe 6 lbs fully tuned, I dont want to tear into my lower end.

Post Re: Low boost on your 2.3

I've built several of these turbo 2.3 Fords both in rangers and older cars. Don't waste money on the ebay kits. Find a take off manifold from a XR7,XR4Ti,SVO or Turbocoupe the cast manifold will not crack like the Chinese ones and the older 2.3T's had Garrett T3 turbos that are better than the ebay kits. I wouldn't drive it at all without tuning it. The stock cast pistons will last as long as its not ran lean or detonated on. I'm running ~15# on my bone stock 93 4x4 using the stock components off an 84 XR7 Cougar. With no issues so far. The only additions are an intercooler and a PiMPxs ECU.
