Default 1997 ranger 2.3 5 speed rwd interchangeably

So i have a ranger and im looking into swapping on certain better parts hopefully and just need advice on if it will fit or ehere i can get one that will fit.

First i checked my rear end and used the graph for my tire size...
Im looking for a 8.8inch 4.10 with LSD

Is the 2.5 sohc bolt right on?
I figure the newer 2.3 duratec might mount but needs wiring?
I heard if you want a v6 just buy a v6 truck.
I want a pretty straightforward drop in where i can make 250 hp

Nos, turbo 4 banger or v6.. i hear the 4 cyl(lima) is a pretty bad built motor always tapping? My truck feels anemic

Going to start a build forum too of yall do that here

Find a turbo 2.3 lima out of a turbo mid to late 80s turbo svo mustang or a thunderbird turbo coupe. The lima 2.5 will drop right in, the duratec 2.3 involves swaping everything including the transmission, as do the 3.0 and 4.0. The lima was one of the best engines ford ever made until its production end in 2001. Its just plain reliable and nearly impossible to kill. Its not a powerhouse engine but can be somewhat easily built into one. 94-97 2.3s will swap easily with 98-2001 2.5s. The turbo 2.3 exhaust manifold will bolt up to your 2.3.

I would like a reliable 250 hp. Thinking of getting a 2.5 and building it up while my 2.3 slowly dies with 215k
That old turbo lima swap drops right in?
