Default What engine sensor is this?

On my 2010 inline 4 cyl engine I discovered some rodent had made a snack of the number 2 spark plug wire molding at the plug. In addition it also chewed on the rubber boot between the number 2 and 3 plug exposing a yellow wire that goes to a sensor between those plugs. The boot and wire to that sensor appears to be integrated, not a connector, to that sensor. My question is, What sensor is this. Also it joins into a loom of wires covered in what looks like electrical wrap or tape. To replace that sensor do I need to replace the entire loom or just unwrap the loom and replace just that one circuit?
If it's time for a new loom what is that loom called so I can order one from Ford or auto parts store.
Thanks in advance

Well, in truth and fact. Those of us not exactly familiar with the 4cyl variant could certainly identify it via possible experience or cross reference of our own....

BUT

Cylinder head temp sensor. (Not to be confused with a regular coolant sensor or sender) Its the only sensor between plug 2 and 3 on a duratec. Your now the second person in a month to have an issue with mice eating wires on that sensor... Wtf!? Do you people store corn in your engine compartment?!

Thanks Dirtman rodents store acorns in the engine compartment. They store them in the air box. They store them in the exhaust pipe of my motorcycle too. They carry dry pet food hundreds of feet to store food. I wasn't aware this 2.3L 4cyl engine was called a Duratec. So it's a cylinder head temp sensor. Thanks for the info.

I think depending on where you are geo-located in the nation.. its getting that time of the year for nature.. Or these people have a few too many vehicles to move them all around enough and the animals are making use of that.. lol

Must be all the fires driving the critters to find new homes... Gavin will take care of it, I'm sure... by taxing the beans out of all those rich people ... who will move.

You can unwrap the wiring loom, and separate the wire that is damage. You can order replacement 'pigtails' from FoMoCo and web sites. A pigtail is the desired connector, proper shape and number of connections, with a length of wire already installed for each old wire that is to be connected. Just solder and use heat shrink, plug in and you are done.
You can find a PDF file listing the FoMoCo sensors they sell and there are some aftermarket sources also.
The wiring loom is not an auto parts store part, but dealer only. I would be on the way to a boneyard if I did not want to do the wiring fix.

I think the OEMs should quit making the insulation taste like squirrel candy. There oughta be a law... ha!

Its called a shotgun. Buy one, in your case you could consider it preventative maintenance!
